Winston Vasey Obituary (1920 - 2004)

WINSTON "PINKY" O. VASEY Winston "Pinky" O. Vasey, age 83, of Menomonie died Sun., Jan. 18, 2004 at Myrtle Werth Hospital - Mayo Health Systems in Menomonie. Winston was born on May 13, 1920 in Menomonie, WI and adopted by Paul and Lonaverne (Harshman) Vasey. He married Inez "Kit" Richardson on October 29, 1943 in Champaign, IL. Winston enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1943. Winston owned Vasey and Vasey Insurance Agency with his father Paul for 31 years. Later, he owned True Value Hardware for 13 years. Winston was a charter member of the Menomonie Lion's Club. Winston attended Stout State University studying Industrial Arts as he always had a great interest in woodworking and machine shop. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting including trips out west. Winston sold the first snowmobiles in Menomonie. He also sold boats, motors and travel trailers. Winston is survived by: 2 sons and 2 daughters Alan (Sue) Vasey of Cottage Grove, MN Bruce (Elizabeth) Vasey of Ann Arbor, MI Karen Vasey of Cottage Grove, MN Teresa (Rick) Gallman of Eau Claire 4 grandchildren Jodi (Mark) Harnisch of Menomonie Jennifer (Troy) Steinmeyer of Menomonie Eric and Gina Vasey of Ann Arbor, MI 1 great-grandson, Dakota Harnisch 1 sister, Alta Vasey Morgan of Menomonie Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Inez Memorial services for both Winston and Inez will be 2:00 PM on Wed., Jan. 21 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with the Rev. Marilyn Rushton officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to donors charity of choice.
