July 1, 1996 - March 23, 2019
Tyler Miller, age 22, was born on July 1st, 1996 and passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones on March 23, 2019. He had a love for history, learning and travel that was exceeded only by his generous nature and love for his family, whom he lived close to in Menomonie, Wisconsin. In July of 2009, the Make-a-Wish Program granted Tyler his lifelong dream to visit Japan. Tyler and his family flew to Tokyo to see iconic sites, eat authentic food, and experience firsthand the culture he revered with the family who cared for him. On April 15th, 2012, Tyler experienced the gift of community support through the One in a Million Tyler Miller Benefit. Tyler truly appreciated the unexpected, but beautiful kindness and generosity of friends and strangers alike. Tyler gained wonderful friendships and memories as a part of the class of 2016, through his work experiences at Goodwill, and during his time in the anime convention community. Tyler explored his love for Japanese animation, music and art by going to anime conventions devoted to gathering people with that common interest. He found his place among friends at No Brand Con, Daisho Con, and Anime Detour from 2001 to 2018. Tyler was recognized for his achievements with the Extra Effort Award for the school year of 2016. He was strong willed, fought for his ideals and was unyieldingly empathetic, never feeling sorry for his own struggle. Tyler Miller fought a long battle with bone marrow failure, stomach cancer and other health complications, but lived a wonderful life, full of love and sharing. Tyler is survived by his parents Charlie and Lisa, his sister Ashley, his emotional support puppy; grandparents Elizbeth Webster from Ashland, WI, Roger Draeger of Menomonie, Christine (Burgraff) Schmidt of West Bend, WI; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Earl and Ruth Draeger and Bill and Irene Webster. There will be a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2019 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie. There will be a time of remembrance at 7:00 p.m.
