Simon J. Loga Obituary (2009 - 2023)

Simon James Loga, age 13, of Elmwood, WI died unexpectedly Monday, May 29th, 2023, at the scene of a motor vehicle accident in Barron County. Simon was born June 12, 2009, in Eau Claire, WI to Samuel J. Loga and Naomi L. Hayes. He was the youngest of their 3 children (Hannah and Seth). He grew up and lived in the close-knit community of Elmwood. He just completed 8th grade and participated in Elmwood’s promotion ceremony on May 19th, 2023. He was so looking forward to his Freshman year! He loved school, his classmates, fellow students, teachers, and the staff there. Simon was very creative and loved music. He was a member of the Elmwood school band, choir, as well as the honors choir. He would often be found humming, singing, listening to or sharing a favorite song. He had a passion for learning and excelled in academics. He routinely was on the “A” honor roll. He was a natural born athlete playing football, baseball, basketball and was on the track team. He was also a manager for Elmwood’s Varsity Football team. While he put his heart into all the sports he participated in, he had a love for basketball. Simon would often be found shooting hoops with stepbrother Payton playing 1 on 1’s or 3 on 3’s with all his close friends. He, of course, was also extremely close to his brother and sister Seth and Hannah Loga. They had such a unique close bond that not all siblings are able to demonstrate, but they did. They looked out for one another, stood up for each other and seemed to always be there for each other; lending a helping hand, playing video games or hugging it out. Family was extremely important to Simon. He loved playing games (board games, card games, Mindcraft, you name it...) Simon loved it. He also loved Marvel movies, comedy, camping, traveling, pulling practical jokes, and of course FOOD! Simon had just recently started working at Scatterbrain Café in Downsville, WI and really loved being a part of their team! Simon was truly a Light and had such an amazing soul. He was a friend to all. He was so caring, thoughtful, kind, respectful, and loving to everyone around him. He was able to read a room and his enduring empathetic nature made those around him at ease. He also was a great conversationalist, comedian and awesome hugger which he freely offered as needed. Simon touched the lives of SO many. He is survived by: His mother Naomi Hayes and father Samuel Loga and his bonus moms Suzanne Linton and Jessi Loga. His sister Hannah Loga, brother Seth Loga, as well as his step siblings; Emily, Hannah and Brody Bleskacek, and Alexis Earp, Josh and David Linton. He is also survived by his maternal great grandparents Donald and Glenna Bowe. His maternal grandparents Robert and Pauline Hayes, his paternal grandparents Ernie and Jean Loga, and bonus grandparents Bob and Jenny Langer, and so many close aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. I know Simon would also want to give a shout out to his 8th grade classmates. Simon was preceded in death by his uncle Daniel Loga. He also lost one of his “best bros” Payton Bleskacek on June 2nd, 2023. As previously mentioned, Simon and Payton did SO much together – we just never imagined their lives would be taken like this, so soon. A private funeral service will be held for immediate family and close friends. There will be a Celebration of Life for Simon and Payton on Wednesday, June 14th from 3 to 8 pm at the Elmwood High School Gymnasium. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Simon Loga and Payton Bleskacek’s names at RCU (Royal Credit Union). Donations may be made in person at any RCU branch. Checks may be mailed and made out to RCU with Simon Loga and Payton Bleskacek Memorial Fund in the memo line. The Loga, Bleskacek and Hayes families would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all family, friends, Elmwood and surrounding communities, and anyone who reached out to us during this extremely difficult time.
