Ruby A.M. Emerson Obituary (1925 - 2018)

Ruby Alvina Mamie Potter Emerson passed to life eternal on August 7th, 2018. She was born on July 8, 1925 to Fred H. Potter, Jr. and Leona Grambo Potter in Menomonie. Her childhood was spent on a dairy farm in the Weston area. Ruby attended Beaver Creek Elementary and Menomonie High School. One of her first jobs was working as a clerk at the Farmer’s Store selling candy, where she met her husband James. Ruby worked as a waitress and short-order cook at Schultz Brothers Dime Store and Barks Bakery. She also sold Avon for many years. Her later years were spent as a caregiver to handicapped adults in Menomonie. Ruby was known for her love of cooking and often had unexpected guests drop in at meal time. Her lemon, apple, coconut cream pies and homemade doughnuts were enjoyed by many. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband James. She is survived by her daughter Linda Neuens (Dan) of Menomonie and son Craig Emerson (Chris) of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Stacy Hein, Shannon McLevish, Seth Emerson and Cameron Emerson, and great grandchildren Jordan Ackerman, Brandon Hein, Connor and Kayla McLevish, Eliza, Daniel, and Hugh Emerson. Ruby enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, and great grandkids. We would like to thank Comforts of Home Memory Care and Mayo hospice for their loving care. There will be a private graveside service at a later date.
