RICHARD WIESE Richard Wiese, age 80, of Menomonie, WI formerly of Clifton, NJ died Friday, October 10, 2003 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. He was born Sept. 11, 1923 in Passaic, New Jersey to Alfred and Stella (Hamot) Wiese. At the age of seventeen he joined the U.S. Navy and served during W.W.II in the Submarine Service where he made many war patrols and saw action in the Pacific. He made many patrols on the U.S.S. Steelhead. Richard returned to active duty during the Korean Conflict and continued as a Navy Reserve Recruiter until retiring as a Chief Gunners Mate in 1980, after forty years of active and reserve duty. Richard married Margaret "Mickey" Capponi on Nov. 11, 1945 in Passaic, NJ. He worked as a firefighter for the Clifton, NJ Fire Department for 32 years, retiring as captain. He was known as one of the great firehouse cooks. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and he loved to smoke his cigars, especially at the casino. Richard and his wife moved to Menomonie in September of 2000, and have resided at the Oaks. Richard is survived by: His wife, Margaret "Mickey" Wiese of Menomonie, formerly of Clifton, NJ 2 sons Richard (Betty) Wiese Jr. of Liverpool, NY Peter (Emilie) Wiese of Menomonie 3 grandchildren Carmela Wiese of Madison Jocelyn (Eric) Nelson of Houston, TX Benjamin Wiese of Liverpool, NY 1 sister, Estelle Furtak of Wallington, NJ An aunt, Violet (George) Mully of Clifton, NJ Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Alfred. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday Oct. 13, 2003 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Rev. Maynard Larson officiating. Family and friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, and one hour prior to the service Monday, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lutheran Home.
