Norman R. Carey Obituary (1921 - 2015)

Norman Robert Carey, age 94, of Boyceville, WI passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015 at Glenhaven in Glenwood City. He was born July 29, 1921 in Otter Creek Township, Dunn Co., WI to George and Margaret (Vandeventer) Carey. Norman married Gladys Martinson in 1943. They farmed in the Peaceful Valley and Connorsville area. Norman also worked at Friday Canning Company in New Richmond for 20 years. He enjoyed trout fishing with his wife, the yearly fishing trips to Canada with his grandsons and deer hunting with his family and good friend Dale Smith. Norman is survived by his wife, Gladys; four daughters, Sherred Cordes, Dola (Thomas) Stuart, Sybil Buckley and Dayna (Jim) Prokop; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Evelyn, Olive, Marie, Eldora, Clarebelle and Marjorie; three brothers, Gerald, LeRoy and Clarice; and son-in-law, Marvin Cordes. Norman will be remembered for his good heart, quick wit and breathless laughs by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Veterans Center of Menomonie (1½ miles north of Menomonie on Hwy 25).
