Nelda L. Maves

April 30, 1923 - April 14, 2015

Nelda L. Maves, age 91, of Menomonie, WI passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at The Neighbors of Dunn County, with family at her side. Nelda Lucille Albricht the oldest of nine children, was born April 30, 1923 in Colfax, WI to Fred and Matta (Grutt) Albricht. On Nov. 6, 1943, Nelda married Emil Maves in a double wedding ceremony, with Paul and Kathryn Maves, at Tainter Church. Together Nelda and Emil farmed in the Town of Red Cedar most of their lives and were active lifelong members of Tainter United Methodist Church. Nelda’s life centered around her faith and caring for her family. Her love of flowers included arranging flowers from her garden for the church altar. She was also an avid reader and scrabble player. Nelda is survived by her husband, Emil; three daughters, Verlene (Red) Hovland, Karen (Bob) Goers both of Menomonie and Roxanne Carr of Lafayette, LA; foster son, Rick (Kathy) Jenson of Menomonie; five grandchildren, John (Noelle) Hovland, Ericka (Harley) Anderson, Ryan Hovland, Nathan (Abbey) Goers and Adam Goers; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Joan) Albricht and Dale (Janice) Albricht; two sisters, Vivian Erickson and Judy (Bruce) Peterson; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Albricht and Mildred Close; she was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Craig Hovland; three brothers, Fred, Harold and Larry Albricht; and one sister, Verla (Russell) Mattison. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Tainter United Methodist Church, in the Town of Tainter, Dunn Co. WI with Pastor Craig Conklin officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
