Leonard J. Ness Sr. Obituary (1939 - 2017)

Leonard J. Ness Sr., age 77, of Eau Claire, WI passed away on Wednesday, March 15th 2017 at Clear Water Care Center in Eau Claire. Leonard was born November 18th, 1939 in Eau Claire, WI to Leonard Engwald Ness and Clarice Jenny (Hunt) Ness. Leonard grew up in the Bloomer area and graduated from Bloomer High School. On December 7th, 1963 he married Marla Belle Wilcox. To this union was born Lorinda Belle, Leonard John Jr., and Rebecca Lynn. Leonard served in the United States Navy before his career as a service technician with A. B. Dick. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hunting, fishing, as well as playing cribbage and horseshoes. Leonard is survived by his children, Leonard John (Cassandra) Ness, Jr., and Rebecca Lynn Ness; his grandchildren Jonathan Thomas Ness, Kesa Elizabeth Ness, Justin Ness, Jasmine Jenny-Mae Ness, and Jordan Edward Ness. Leonard is also survived by his brothers Barry E. Ness, Larry K. Burnell, Roger J. Burnell, and sisters Phyllis (Fred) Hitz, Patricia Kistner, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, step father John Burnell, daughter Lorinda, grandson Justin, brothers James E. Ness, Jerry Burnell, and Robert Burnell, along with several sisters and brothers in law. Memorial services will the held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 25th 2017, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Ron Cutler officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery in the Town of Sherman, Dunn Co. WI with military honors by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.
