Leon E. Stokke Obituary (1933 - 2016)

Leon Earl Stokke, age 83, of Eau Claire, WI formerly of Menomonie died early Friday November 18, 2016 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 7, 1933 to Edwin and Clara (Thorud) Stokke in Menomonie, WI. Leon attended Dunn County Aggie High School, graduating in 1952. Shortly after, Leon served in the U.S. Army for two years as a private, in Colorado Springs. Subsequently, Leon assisted and eventually took over the family dairy farm which had been in the family since the late 1800’s. Leon was an active long-time member of Little Elk Creek Lutheran Church, where he participated in the church choir. In 1982, Leon married Lourdes Magbanua of the Philippines, and they had one child, Ashley in 1983. Leon was a devoted family man and will be remembered for his kindness, love of farming, and traveling. Leon is survived by his wife, Lourdes; daughter, Ashley; brothers, Delvin (Judy) Stokke and Dean (Eileen) Stokke; one sister, Eda (Dave) Samdahl; and several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Clara. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Little Elk Creek Lutheran Church in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn Co. WI with Pastor Dale Moe officiating. There will be visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Little Elk Creek Cemetery with military honors by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.
