Joan M. Walter Obituary (1930 - 2015)

Joan M. Walter, age 84, of Menomonie, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Comforts of Home. She was born October 24, 1930 in Eau Claire to Harvey and Frances (Mitchell) Dunphy. She grew up in Eau Claire and Menomonie, and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1948. Joan married Clarence Walter Jr. March 24, 1951, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie. They had four children. Clarence and Joan were members of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Menomonie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Frances, her brother Raymond, her sister-in-law Joyce Walter, and her husband Clarence. She is survived by her brother Patrick (Kathleen) Dunphy of Texarkana, AR, sister-in-law Marilyn Dunphy of McAllen, TX, brother-in-law John (Jean) Walter of Burke, VA, sons Daniel (Marlene) Walter of Lincoln, NE, Michael (Debra) Walter of Eau Claire, John (Ranae) Walter of Menomonie, and David (Angie) Walter of Chippewa Falls. She is also survived by grandchildren Kelly (Kellen) Petersen and great-grandsons Braxton and Archer, Becky Walter, Jessica (Adam) Partlow and great-grandson Tyler, Melanie (DJ) Vickmark, Jacob Walter, Sam Walter, and Kenny Walter, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Menomonie, with Pastor Rob McDougall officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in the Town of Dunn, Dunn County.
