Gary C. Spehle Obituary (1962 - 2014)

Gary C. Spehle, age 51, of Menomonie, WI passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at his home. He was born March 12, 1962 in Eau Claire, WI to Charles and Alice (Stai) Spehle. Gary attended Altoona High School and in the late 1970's moved with his parents to the Menomonie area. In 1981, Gary's parents purchased Elk Point Resort where he worked until 2001 when Gary and his wife Chris took over the resort. Gary had also worked at Bill's Garage and Coin Machines Inc. in the Colfax area. Gary was an outdoorsman and in his younger years enjoyed waterskiing and the Elk hunting trips to Colorado and the hunting and fishing trips to Devil's Lake, ND and Canada with his parents. Gary had many mounts made of his trophies from his hunting and fishing trips. He enjoyed his trips to Mexico. He also enjoyed camping, 4-wheeling, pool league, and shaking dice, especially the game of Farkle. Gary is survived by his two daughters, Sarah (Gary) Golden of Colfax and Nikki (Brian) Scherer of Boyceville; two grandchildren, Jada Golden and Aryssa Scherer; his parents, Chuck and Alice Spehle of Colfax; two brothers, David (Leatha) of Altoona and Kevin (Tammy) of Colfax; three nieces, Candy, Tina and Lacey and a nephew Travis; also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends; and his friend and companion, Shannon Ankney; as well as his dogs, Lola and Levi and cat, Mia. He was preceded in death by his wife Christine in 2012 and his grandparents. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Cedarbrook Church (N6714 470th St. Menomonie) with Pastor Kyle Gunderson officiating. There will be visitation from 3:00 until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday. Olson Funeral Home of Menomonie is serving the family.
