Gale R. Kistner

Gale R Kistner, age 74 of Eau Galle, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at his home. Gale was born May 14, 1947 in Ashland Wisconsin to Chester and Thelma (Dewey) Kistner. Gale spent most of his life in the Downsville area. He worked as a fuel attendant/mechanic for Walmart Distribution Center. After his retirement he spent his time farming, gardening and he enjoyed going to local farmers markets with his van, sharpening knives and other tools as Gator’s Sharpening Business. Gale married Janet Shivley October 23, 1971. They had four children and later divorced. Gale is survived by his long-time partner, Jackie Cornwell; four children, Carrie (Rod) Belch, Stacy (Ryan) Smith, Adam Kistner and Dale Kistner (Stephanie Kloss); 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Gerald Kistner, Elaine Hilmanowski, Roland (Millie) Kistner, Clair (Lovine) Kistner, and Charles (Connie) Kistner. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Pat Kistner, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Delbert and Roy, sisters-in-law, Beverly Kistner, Margaret Kistner and brother-in-law Bob Hilmanowski. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Downsville, Wisconsin, with Rev. Dr. Judy Kincaid officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family.
