Erling J. Moldenhauer Obituary (1927 - 2006)

ERLING J. MOLDENHAUER Erling J. Moldenhauer, age 79, of Menomonie, WI lost his courageous battle with lung cancer at home on Monday, September 11, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 24, 1927 in the town of Cady, St. Croix Co., WI to Edward and Clara (Timm) Moldenhauer. He attended elementary school and high school in Spring Valley. Erling hauled milk and worked as a cheesemaker at Cady Cheese Factory. He also farmed with his dad on the family farm. Erling married Betty Hake on May 25, 1950. Their union was blessed with three daughters. They bought a farm in Cady Township and farmed there for many years. Erling also worked for Hoeppner-Barttlet until 1983 when he contracted Lymes disease. Erling and Betty moved to Menomonie in 1981, where he lived until his death. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Laborers Union and Menomonie Moose Lodge where he held several offices. In 1990, Erling was recognized by Men of the Moose as a Moose Worker of the year. Erling enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, listening to music, visiting and having coffee with friends. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He also loved his family dearly and enjoyed lending a helping hand. Erling is survived by: His wife of 56 years, Betty 3 daughters, Luanne (Ron) Prochnow of Menomonie Connie (Larry) Supri of Menomonie Sherry (Mike) Ellefson of Spring Valley 8 grandchildren, Michael and Tara Prochnow Bryce and Kayla Supri Rick, Shanna, Justin and Tyler Ellefson A sister, Beverly Erickson of Eau Claire He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. His faithful companion Cheekee always held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister June Marie and a brother-in-law, Don Erickson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Dave Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie where there will be a service by Menomonie Moose Lodge 1584 at 7:00 PM. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
