STEINKE Elvin G. Steinke, age 89, of Menomonie, WI died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. He was born June 4, 1913 in Buffalo Co., WI to Albert and Martha (Heike) Steinke. Elvin was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Canton, Buffalo County. Elvin farmed for many years in Buffalo County and continued to farm when he moved to Dunn County. After retiring from farming he moved into Menomonie and worked for the Wisconsin Milling Co. He later retired as custodian from the Menomonie Public School System. Elvin was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, listening to the Cubs and Brewers games and just watching and talking to people as they walked by his home. He also loved his grandchildren. Elvin is survived by: His son, Emory (Theresa) Steinke of Hayward 2 grandchildren Travis Steinke of Menomonie Angela (Ed) Rusch) of Appleton And other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dean; 2 sisters, Edna Schrader and Irma Gunderson; a brother, Carl Steinke and an infant brother. Funeral services 11 AM Sat., Sept. 28, 2002 at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie with the Rev. Steve Schmeling officiating. Burial at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in the twp. of Menomonie, Dunn Co. Visitation Friday from 4 - 8 PM at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Menomonie.
