Eleanor Schaefer Obituary (1915 - 2013)

Eleanor M. Schaefer, age 97, of Menomonie, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Our House Memory Care in Chippewa Falls, WI with hospice. The former Eleanor M. Behling was born Dec. 14, 1915 in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co. WI to Levi and Elsie (Rubusch) Behling. She attended Evergreen Valley Country School. On April 8, 1936 Eleanor married Lawrence Schaefer in Menomonie. Together they farmed for many years in the Town of Spring Brook. Eleanor was a life time member of Peace Lutheran Church and a member of Lois Circle. She also belonged to the Sunny Side Homemakers Club. Eleanor loved to cook and made excellent pies, she also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, dancing, music and going for Sunday afternoon drives. She will be sadly missed by her family. Eleanor is survived by her children all of Eau Claire, Duane Schaefer, Larry Schaefer (Cindy Komornick)and Sharon Gibson; a sister, Charlotte Cummings of Menomonie; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; three great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence in 1998; a sister, Doris Fouks and a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Schaefer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Diaconal Minister Heather Kistner officiating. Burial will be in Iron Creek Cemetery in the Town of Spring Brook. There will be visitation from 4 to 7p.m. Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
