Edna Zimmerman Obituary (1907 - 2005)

EDNA LILLIAN ZIMMERMAN Edna Lillian Zimmerman, age 97, of Menomonie, WI passed on to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. Edna was born February 25, 1907 at home in the Town of Durns, LaCrosse County, WI to Fred W. and Sarah (Luethi) Stark. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1925. She worked for the Dr. Sutherland (Dentist) family prior to her marriage to R. Elry Zimmerman. They were united in marriage on January 4, 1929 at her home in the Town of Burns, by the father of the groom, Reverend George W. Zimmerman, Pastor of the Evangelical United Bretheran Church. Edna worked at a bank in Sparta before moving to Menomonie, where she and her husband owned and operated Norge Village for many years. Edna was a life long member of her church, the United Methodist Church and served as WSCS President, Choir member, Women's Circle President, Treasurer and other responsibilities where needed. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge. She was an active bowler for over 50 years, having her highest game of 245 at age 84. She loved and enjoyed her bowling friends. Her fun spirit and positive attitude were an inspiration to everyone she knew and met. Edna loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed family activities with them. She enjoyed playing Polish Poker with anyone who would come for a visit. Edna is survived by: A daughter, Beverly Gusse of Oshkosh A son, Duane (Dolores) Zimmerman of Scottsdale, AZ 6 grandchildren Karen (James) Walhgren, of Slinger Robert (Ruth) Sherwood of Temple, TX Renee (Larry) Lautenschlager of Oshkosh Richard "Rick" (Kristi) Zimmerman of Bradenton, FL Linda Zimmerman of Sun Prairie Laura (Fred) Harris of Gardnerville, NV 10 great-grandchildren, Rob Koechell, Justin Sherwood, Megan and Michelle Lautenschlager, Brandon and Erin Zimmerman, Stephanie, Daniel and Carrie LeMahieu, and Joseph Wise. 3 step-great-grandchildren, Josh, Andy and Beth Harris A sister, Adeline Jones 1 step brother, Lloyd (Helen) Stiehl She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R. Elry Zimmerman; a brother Howard Stark, a sister, Georgia Zietlow; and a son-in-law, Ruben Gusse. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Pastor Paul Pillman officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 noon on Wednesday until the service.
