Christina Walter Obituary

CHRISTINA A. WALTER Christina A. Walter, age 97, of Menomonie, WI died on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. The former Christina Adeline Lindstrom was born on Nov. 23, 1906 in Chippewa County, Wisconsin to John and Francis (Mathis) Lindstrom. She moved with her parents to a farm in Burnside Valley near Urne, WI where she was the oldest of ten children. Christina attended Business College in St. Paul, MN and on the job training as a telephone operator and became the telephone operator in Eau Galle, WI. She then moved to Menomonie, WI and commenced a 22 year association with Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company. Christina married Clarence C. Walter on May 18, 1928 in Stillwater, MN. In 1940 her husband became the Dunn County Traffic Officer, and it was shortly after this she resumed her work with the Telephone Company until her retirement in 1962. When Clarence was elected Dunn County Sheriff in 1964, she served as cook, matron and helpmate to her husband until he retired in 1968. They moved to their home on Tainter Lake where Christina lived until moving to The Oaks in April of 2000. Christina is survived by: 2 sons Clarence Jr. (Joan) Walter of Colfax John Walter of Burke, VA 7 grandchildren Daniel (Marlene) Walter of Lincoln, NE Michael (Debra) Walter of Eau Claire John (Ranae) Walter of Menomonie David (Angeline) Walter of Eau Claire Patricia (Randal) Harrington of Eugene, OR Scott (Agnes) Walter of Nancy, France Richard (Susan) of Walnut Creek, CA 12 great-grandchildren 2 sisters and 1 brother Florence Abbott, Leona Grippen and John Lindstrom And other relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; 3 sisters, Idell Johnson, Olive Stewart and Ruby Wamsley; 2 brothers, Alvin and Victor Lindstrom; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Walter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Brett Voigt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
