Bertice Bertie Johnson Obituary (1920 - 2014)

Bertice A. Krueger Johnson, age 93, of Menomonie, WI passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. The former Bertice Anna Bryan was born Oct. 4, 1920 in Mobridge, SD to William and Anna (Anderson) Bryan. She moved with her family to Wisconsin in 1936. In 1945 Bertice married Paul Krueger. They had two children, Barbara and Daniel that Bertice raised on her own after Paul died in 1952. Bertice taught school for 30 years in rural schools, Elk Mound Schools and then in the Menomonie School District until retiring. On August 22, 1981, Bertice married Herb Johnson in Menomonie. They loved traveling in their retirement. Bertice had a good sense of humor and loved family get-togethers. Bertice is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Jim) Johnson; son, Daniel Krueger; sister, Delores Teachout; three grandchildren, Carin Johnson, Christina (Miguel) Molina, Paul (Gloria) Krueger; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Paul Krueger and Herb Johnson; two sisters; one brother; and two grandchildren, Catherine Johnson and Craig Johnson. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Halvorson Cemetery in Menomonie with Pastor Brett Voigt officiating. Olson Funeral Home of Menomonie is serving the family.
