Avis N. Scholfield Obituary (1928

Avis N. Scholfield, age 90, of Menomonie, WI passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at her home. The former Avis N. Kirkland was born May 21, 1928 in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn Co. WI to William and Nellie (Holbein) Kirkland. She attended Bountiville School and graduated from Dunn County Aggie in 1946. On Dec. 31, 1949, Avis married James Scholfield. They were married 68 years. Avis worked at U.W. Stout for 24 years and wintered in Florida for over ten years. Avis was a member of the United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary since 1966 and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to read, walk, garden, fish and play Euchre. She and her husband camped at Lake Wabagasset in Amery for many years and had many fond memories. She was also an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers and the Menomonie High School football team. Avis is survived by her husband, Jim; two children, Dawn (Mark) O’Brien of Centreville, VA and Jim Scholfield Jr. of Menomonie; her grandchildren, Katie and Eric O’Brien; sisters, Doris Kirkland and Janet Zitelman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nellie Kirkland and her brother Harlan. The family would like to give a special thank you to Joni, Heather, Karlene, Suzanne and Dale from Mayo Clinic-Home Health & Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to United Methodist Church in Menomonie. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie with Pastor Wendy Slaback officiating. There will be visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Froen Cemetery in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn Co. WI.
