Annie Rae Abbott

Anna Rae Abbott, age 90, passed away on Friday afternoon, May 5, 2017 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie, WI. Annie was born on April 13, 1927 at St. Mary's Hospital in Sparta, WI to Frank and Helen (De Witt) Harris of Tomah, WI. She attended Tomah Public Schools and while in high school she loved playing in the band and orchestra, singing in the choir and Madrigals and leading cheers at athletic events. Annie graduated in June, 1944 and enrolled at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. She was affiliated with Kappa Del and majored in Music Education, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in June, 1948. Annie accepted a position teaching music in Neillsville, WI and while there, met her husband Archie and they were married on June 29, 1952 at the M.E. Methodist Church in Tomah. They moved to Menomonie and became active members of Peace Lutheran Church. Annie directed the church choirs for 25 years and also was part of the Banner Committee and Bazaar Craft Group for many years. She loved Bridge and played in many Bridge Clubs over the years. Annie was a member of the Menomonie Music Study Club, Menomonie PEO, Chapter DD for 30 years. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Helen. She is survived by her husband of more than 64 years, Archie; son Jeff Abbott (Rhonda) of Menomonie; daughter Julie Abbott (Dr. Victoria Vogle) of Longview, WA; grandchildren Shelby Abbott of St. Paul, MN and Parker Abbott of Iowa City, IA and step-grandchildren Hailey Hintz and Devyn Hintz, both of Menomonie, plus many nieces and nephews. Annie will be dearly missed by her many friends and relatives. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Kristine Stedje officiating. There will be visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co. WI. Olson Funeral in Menomonie is serving the family.
