William "Bill" J. O'Keefe Obituary (1944 - 2017)

William J. O’Keefe, age 73, of Menomonie, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home. Bill was born June 5, 1944 in Durand, Wisconsin to Thomas O’Keefe and Bregetta Pichler O’Keefe. Bill grew up in the Pierce County area. He attended catholic schools and graduated in 1962. Bill went on to advance his education the field of HVAC, welding, computer electronics, facility management engineering, as well as forestry. Bill Married Marlene Larson. Together they had five children. Daniel O’Keefe, James (Amy) O’Keefe, Laurie (Jeff) Boerner, William “Billy” (Jenny) O’Keefe, Shawn O’Keefe. They later divorced. Bill Married Shirley Henderson on May 17, 1989. They lived in Cornell, Wisconsin. They moved to Menomonie in 2004. Bill Worked various jobs in his lifetime. He worked in a sand mine, and Keefe Bros trucking. He worked on the demolition crew at the St. Croix dam project, Niro Hudson welding, and as a machinist at Johnson wood company. Bill then enjoyed his career as facilities management engineer at Cray Research. Bill is survived by eight brothers, Lloyd, John, Steven, Doug, Tim, David, Thomas, and Dennis; four sisters, Jane Bacon, Mary Juliot, Emily Stewart, and Pauline Biederman. Seventeen grandchildren and step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded death by his parents, one brother, Daniel; and one sister, Jean Stuart. Memorial Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie. There will be a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
