Willard L. Douglas Obituary (1916 - 2007)

WILLARD L. DOUGLAS Willard Lewis Douglas, age 91, of Menomonie, WI formerly of Round Lake Beach, IL passed away Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. He was born April 21, 1916 in the Town of Spring Brook, Dunn Co., WI to Ernest and Ethel (Miller) Douglas. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II from 1940 to 1945. On August 9, 1941, Willard married Norma LaVerne Anderson in Chicago, IL. They lived in Round Lake Beach, IL and Willard worked as an electrical technician. Following the death of his wife, he moved back to Menomonie in 2006. Willard was a member of the American Legion, the Signal Service Assoc, U.S. Army and he was an amateur radio operator, W9YPO. He was also a history buff and enjoyed traveling. Willard is survived by his daughter Ren�e Dawn (Douglas) McCarthy of Australia, and a grandson Sean Douglas McCarthy of Australia. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma; and three brothers, Raymond, Wilbur and Howard. A Celebration of Willard's Life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at Olson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Menomonie with military honors by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.
