Virgil Erickson Obituary (1936 - 2003)

VIRGIL D. "RED" ERICKSON Virgil D. "Red" Erickson, age 67, of Colfax, WI died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born on April 15, 1936 in the town of Tainter, Dunn Co., WI to Andrew and Lillian (Batchelder) Erickson. Upon graduation from high school he joined and served in the armed services. He then moved to the Milwaukee area where he worked in construction for 8 years. In 1968, Red married Jill Minor in Watertowne, South Dakota. They resided in the Wheeler area most of their lives whereupon they raised their family. Red joined the local Laborers Union #317 and remained there until his retirement in 1992. Red greatly loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his generosity and kindness. He is survived by: His wife, Jill of Colfax 2 daughters Lisa Minor of Boyceville Kristen (Steve) Shaw of Boyceville 2 sons Bob (Kim) Minor of Colfax Andy (Nancy) Erickson of Menomonie 7 grandchildren Travis, Eden, Garrett, Dalton, Kelsey, Savannah and Michah His mother, Lillian Erickson of Menomonie 2 brothers Ted (Carol) Erickson of Boyceville Chuck (Alberta) Erickson of New Prague, MN Nieces and nephews And many other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Erickson; 4 brothers, Delbert, Ross, Leonard, Don; and 2 sisters, Juanita and Doris. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at Grace United Methodist Church in Wheeler, with Rev. Rev. Gail Mitchell and Rev. Nancy Diller officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls Cemetery with Military Honors by the Lee Ranney American Legion Post 235 of Wheeler. Friends and family may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
