Vernie Hoyt Obituary (1909 - 2008) - Menomonie, Wisconsin

VERNIE HOYT Vernie Hoyt, age 99, of Menomonie, WI died Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood. The former Vernie Bundy was born August 23, 1909 in the Town of Weson, Dunn Co., WI to Edwin and Emma (Droel) Bundy. Before her marriage, she did housework for $2.00 a week. Vernie married Daniel Hoyt in 1929, in Red Wing, MN. Together they farmed in Pierce County for many years. About 1950 they moved to Menomonie, where Vernie worked at several restaurants, including the Dew Drop In, the Chatterbox and the Blue Diamond, until retiring. In her free time, Vernie enjoyed doing embroidery and putting puzzles together. She also made sure to read the newspaper daily. Vernie loved her family and she will be sadly missed. Vernie is survived by: 4 sons and 1 daughter, Robert (Florence) Hoyt of Knapp Violet Dahl of Spring Valley Duane (Linda) Hoyt of Menomonie Thomas Hoyt of Menomonie Richard (Gloria) Hoyt of Nelson 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren A sister Lula DeLong of Elmwood She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons, Carl and LeRoy, 3 brothers, Marshall, Charlie and Peter Bundy, a sister Nellie DeLong, and 3 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Rev. James Harrington officiating. Burial will be in Tramway Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co., WI. Family and friends are welcome from 12:00 (noon) on Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
