Thelma H. Wagner Obituary (1911 - 2008)

THELMA H. WAGNER Thelma Helen Wagner went to her heavenly home Monday, October 20, at the Golden Age Manor, Amery, Wisconsin. She was born August 27, 1911, to Nels Clements and Inga Solberg Clements. Thelma Clements married Paul Wagner on August 29, 1936 in Minneapolis. She and Paul had a 54-year marriage, living most of their lives in Hastings, Minnesota and Alton, Illinois. They retired to a hobby farm in Clear Lake, Wisconsin and later moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin. Paul preceded her in death in 1986. Thelma now joins her dear husband and two brothers, Orlin and Herbert Clements. Thelma is survived by her two sisters, Mildred Wallen, (Boyceville, WI) and Eileen Swanson, (Gresham, OR). Thelma is also survived by her four loving children, Bill Wagner (Karen) West Plains, MO, Dick Wagner (Nancy) Little Canada, MN, John Wagner(Sheila) Escondido, CA, and Gretchen Ocock,(Glenn) Appleton, WI. She leaves 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Thelma is also lovingly remembered by her extended family and all of her close friends. Thelma's life centered around her church, family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Menomonie. Everyone who knew Thelma will always remember the sound of her laugh. She could find humor in just about any situation. Grandchildren have memories of seeing her breathless and teary eyed, doubled over with laughter at the kitchen table. There are also special memories of holidays and family gatherings. The highlight of these occasions was Thelma's meal. She was comfortable in any setting, but the kitchen was her domain. Grandchildren still remember enjoying homemade raspberry preserves on steaming fresh-baked bread. Throughout her life, Thelma Wagner brought joy to everyone who had the great fortune to know her. Her passing fills us with sorrow even as we are inspired by her example to live our own lives joyfully as redeemed children of God. Thelma's family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Judy's Cottage, Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI. Their work these past six years was a labor of love. They are truly angels among us. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, October 24, 2008, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Steve Schmeling officiating. Burial will be in West Aker Cemetery in the Twp. New Haven, Dunn Co., WI. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is handling the arrangements.
