Sigrund Halvorson Obituary (1911 - 2003)

SIGRUND L. HALVORSON Sigrund L. Halvorson, age 91, of Menomonie, died Fri., Feb. 7, 2003 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. The former Sigrund Lillian Lund was born August 16, 1911 in the Town of Grant, Dunn Co., WI to Ole E. and Gunda (Boe) Lund. She was baptized Oct. 22, 1911 and confirmed June 13, 1926 both at the Holden Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant. Sigrund married Jens Garfield Halvorson on June 29, 1931 in New Richmond, WI. Together they farmed in the Town of Sherman for many years. Sigrund was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, active in the CLCW, circle and the quilting group. She was also one of the women who started the Sunshine Group, for shut-ins from the American Lutheran Home. Sigrund was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be sadly missed. Sigrund is survived by: A daughter, Shirley (Bob) Whitney of Prescott Valley, AZ A son, Gordon (Geri) Amble of Glenwood City 9 grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren 1 great-great-granddaughter And other relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garfield; 2 children, Glenora and Elton; 2 brothers, Edward and Garfield Lund; a grandson, Joseph Amble and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Amble. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 at Christ Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Geoff Scott and Rev. Christopher Whitney officiating. Burial will be in Norton Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Tainter, Dunn Co., WI. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, and at the church an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
