Palmer Carlsrud Obituary (1917 - 2010)

PALMER CARLSRUD Palmer Carlsrud, age 93, of Boyceville, WI passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Glenhaven Nursing Home in Glenwood City, WI. He was born March 8, 1917 in the Town of New Haven, Dunn Co., WI to John and Anna (Finnrud) Carlsrud. He was baptized and confirmed at West Akers Lutheran Church and attended Forest Grove School in the Town of New Haven. Palmer drove truck for the Boyceville and Connorsville field mills. On June 3, 1942 he married the former Lucille Johnson at the United Methodist Church in Boyceville. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during W.W. II from 1942 to 1945 as a Med. Corpsman and an Ambulance Driver in London. Following his military service, he and his wife purchased a farm north of Connorsville where they farmed for 43 years. After selling the farm in 1990 they moved to Boyceville. Palmer was a member of the Connorsville United Methodist Church and the Connorsville Johnson-Whistler American Legion Post #323 for over 60 years. He loved to bowl, play cards and to watch the softball games in Connorsville. He was a quiet man who enjoyed life and his naps and was proud of his military service. Palmer is survived by: One daughter and two sons Lynda (Gary "Stub") Swenson of Connorsville Alan Carlsrud of Wheeler Kenneth (Kris) Carlsrud of Glenwood City Seven grandchildren, Brent (Heidi) Swenson, Cory (Sara) Swenson, Kevin Swenson, Travis (Kim) Carlsrud, Lori (Dan) Jensen, Jeremy Carlsrud (Rachel Landmark), Beth (Dan) Weiland Great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Katie Swenson, Sawyer and Brock Swenson, Amanda, Danielle and Katlyn Link, Andrea and Nathan Jensen Three sisters, Edna Albright of Wheeler Alma Tuttle of Glenwood City Josie (Gerald) Amundson of Prairie Farm Also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille, two daughters Sally Ann and Patricia Kay, a brother Albert Carlsrud and a half brother Arnold Finnrud. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Connorsville United Methodist Church in Connorsville, with Pastor Tim Matthaei officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
