Neal F. Hunter, Sr. Obituary (1925 - 2005)

NEAL F. HUNTER SR. Neal F. Hunter Sr., age 80, of Menomonie, WI died peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. He was born Feb. 21, 1925 in St. Paul, MN to Harold and Gertrude (Dahms) Hunter. He moved to the Glenwood City area with his parents and graduated from Glenwood City High School. Neal served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician, during W.W.II. He married Betty Wilk on Feb. 2, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley, WI. Neal worked as an electrician for the Milwaukee Soo Line railroad until 1968 when he developed M.S. He has lived in Menomonie for 30 years and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie since 1975. He was also a member of the local V.F.W. Post 1039. Neal is survived by: His beloved wife, Betty Hunter of Menomonie 2 daughters and 3 sons Barbara (Dennis) Pierson of Freeport, IL Neal Jr. (Rhonda) Hunter of Monroe Richard (Donna) Hunter of Rockford, IL Russell (Kathy) Hunter of Dubuque, IA Christine Hunter-Cornell of Menomonie 8 Grandchildren, Ryan (Brenda) Pierson, David (Allyson) Pierson, Travis and Jeremy Hunter, Chad (Mary) Hunter, Amy (Louis) Sola, Brook (Melissa) Hunter, Amber (Matt) Schouten 2 great-grandchildren, Lane Pierson and Chase Hunter 3 brothers and 1 sister all of St. Paul, MN Jim (Eileen) Hunter Floyd Hunter Norris Hunter Eleanor Engdahl And other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, Oct. 21, 2005 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie, WI with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hersey, WI with military honors by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends are welcome at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday where there will be at prayer service at 7:30 PM. There will also be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
