Mary Jane M. Williams Obituary (1926 - 2012)

Mary Jane M. Williams, age 85, of Elmwood, WI formerly of Menomonie, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home. The former Mary Jane Deutscher was born June 17, 1926 to Frank and Laura (Smith) Deutscher in the Town of Drammen, Eau Claire Co. Wisconsin. She grew up on the family farm, and after graduating from Mondovi High School, worked as a secretary in Eau Claire. Mary Jane married Donald F. Williams at the Lake Street Methodist Church in Eau Claire on October 22, 1949. They farmed in the Hatchville area of rural Dunn County until retirement. She also did bookkeeping for Tiller Refrigeration and Electric in Menomonie for several years. After retirement, they moved to Menomonie where they resided until September of 2010 when they moved into Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood. She enjoyed square dancing, sewing and crocheting as hobbies. Mary Jane is survived by her husband of 62 years, Don, of Elmwood, a daughter Barbara Shannon of Menomonie, and one grandson, Al (Bristol) Shannon of Stanley, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Newell Deutscher, one sister Mima Olson, son-in-law John Shannon, and an infant daughter who died at birth. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Don Gribble officiating.
