Marvin L. Larson Obituary (1927 - 2008)

MARVIN L. LARSON Marvin Lester Larson, age 80, of Menomonie, WI passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at his home with hospice. He was born June 30, 1927 in Thief River Falls, MN to Iver and Agnes (Hansen) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN. Marvin attended Thief River Falls High School and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. On August 26, 1948, Marvin married Maxine Nelson in Thief River Falls. Marvin attended Watch-making school in Kansas City. From 1953, he owned several jewelry stores, before owning Madsen Jewelers in Menomonie from 1966 until retiring in 1985. After retiring, Marvin sold advertising for Creative Ideas for 16 years. Marvin was a member of the Wisconsin Jewelers Assoc., past board member of the Menomonie Chamber of Commerce and a member of Masonic Lodge 164 F. & A.M. He was an avid golfer, skilled enough to get a hole in one. He also loved hunting and bowling. Marvin is survived by: His wife, Maxine of Menomonie Daughters, Connie (Greg) Lang of Brooklyn Park, MN Carol (Larry) Hoffstatter of Eau Claire Colleen Allen of Eau Claire Three grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Lang, Heather (Brad) Spencer, Ted Allen Two great-granddaughters, Ella and Molly Lang A brother, Irvin (Gladys) Larson of Thief River Falls, MN And other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents Iver and Agnes Larson, two sisters, and a son-in-law James Allen. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Christ Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Geoff Scott officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran/Halvorson Cemetery in Menomonie with military honors by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
