Lyla E. Udy Obituary (1916 - 2009) - Menomonie, Wisconsin

LYLA E. UDY Lyla E. Udy, age 92, of Menomonie, WI formerly of Minneapolis, MN died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 at the Dunn County Health Care Center. The former Lyla Eleanore Fredrickson was born Nov. 18, 1916 in Walcott, N.D. to Alfred and Lena (Peterson) Fredrickson. She lived in Minneapolis, MN the majority of her life before moving to Menomonie to be closer to her family, where she has resided the past ten years. Lyla worked as a riveter for Douglas Aircraft in California, during WW II. After the war she did hospital work in the Minneapolis area. For the past fifty years, she has been a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and then Menomonie. Lyla loved to bake and care for her grandchildren. She was also very proud of her Norwegian heritage. Lyla was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed. Lyla is survived by her daughter Doreen (Terry) Watkins of Menomonie Two grandsons, Jeff (Shelley) Watkins of Menomonie Todd (Shannon) Watkins of Long Grove, IA A granddaughter, Kelly Watkins of Menomonie Four great-grandchildren, Haley, Gunnar, Ali and Peyton Also survived by other relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents, a son David Wayne Erickson, two sisters, Doreen and Ethel, four brothers, Floyd, Arnold, Neuman and Marvin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 2, 2009 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Roy Harrisville officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Menomonie. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
