Luella W. Stokke Obituary (1929 - 2009)

Luella W. Stokke Luella W. Stokke, 79, went home to her Father's House, quietly and peacefully, on January 5, 2009, at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie, WI. She had suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. Luella was born at Knapp, WI on April 23, 1929, to Lewis and Emma (Sabatke) Emerson. She attended Pleasantdale Country School and graduated from Boyceville High School. She then went to cosmetology school in Minneapolis. Following her schooling, she went to California where she married her first husband, George Hall. To this union were born two daughters and one son. She also helped raise two stepchildren. Besides her family, her church was the main element in life. She devoted her time and love to family and church. Following a divorce, she returned to Wisconsin and married Charles Stokke in 1979. They were married in the "Little Brown Church" in Iowa. She remained faithful to her church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in the years following, working diligently with the ladies of the church and continuing her walk with Jesus by helping others. She was a fine seamstress and all through the years had done sewing of clothes. Luella loved to travel with her husband Chuck, both throughout the U.S. as well as overseas. She is survived by her husband Charles; her children, Suzann (Gary) Mathers of San Jose, CA; Patty Greene, Stamford, CT; George (Valerie) Hall, Hollister, CA; Georgia (Ron) Robinson, Cottage Grove, OR; Martin (Sue) Hall, Morgan Hill, CA; Dawn (Lee) Ullrich, Houston, TX; Michael (Sue) Stokke, Nashville, TN; Steven (Regina) Stokke, Elk Mound, WI; A brother, Calvin (Doris) Emerson, Cutbank, MT; a sister, Donna Stewart, Stanwood, WA; a sister-in-law, Ruby Emerson, Menomonie, WI; a brother-in-law, Paul (Marge) Stokke, River Falls, WI; also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday January 9th, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Menomonie WI with Reverend Brett Voigt officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Twp. of Stanton, Dunn County, WI, in the spring. Friends and family are welcome at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI, Thursday, January 8th from 4 to 7 PM and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
