LaVon (Schutz) Reetz Obituary (1914 - 2012)

LaVon R. (Schutz) Reetz, age 98, of Boyceville, WI passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Menomonie. The former LaVon Roselyn Schutz was born May 17, 1914 in the Town of Stanton, Dunn Co. WI to John and Zella (Emerson) Schutz. She was the oldest of five children raised on a dairy farm during the depression. LaVon attended Granger Grade School and graduated from Boyceville High School in 1932. She was active in 4-H for many years. After high school she worked in Chicago for one and a half years before her marriage. LaVon married Alfred Reetz Dec. 2, 1933 and together they farmed in the Town of Hay River from 1935 until the late 1960's. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Keyes Chevrolet. LaVon was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Boyceville. LaVon loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed traveling and playing golf and later enjoyed painting during her retirement. LaVon is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Bill) Schramm of Altoona, Lynette (Vern) Miller of Hot Springs Village, AR and Joanne (Curt) Klefstad of Boyceville; seven grandchildren, Lori (Rich) Zachau of Eau Claire, David Schramm of Shakopee , MN, Kent (Keri) Miller of La Habra, CA, Karen (Gerry) Norton of Lakeville, MN, Kevin Klefstad of Clayton, WI, Bruce Klefstad (Michelle) of Ridgeland and Brent Klefstad (Molly) of Boyceville; 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a brother Larry Schutz of San Jose, CA, as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alfred, two sisters, Ferne Helgeson and Harriet Ewald, a brother Dale Schutz and a great-granddaughter. Because of her love of travel and her faith, LaVon has been looking forward to this last great trip to be with her Lord in paradise. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Boyceville, WI with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating. There will be visitation at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Hay River Cemetery in the Town of Hay River.
