Juanita M. Johnson Obituary (1926 - 2010)

Juanita M. Johnson Juanita May Johnson, age 84, of Colfax, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire with her family by her side. She was born June 10, 1926, in Crandon, WI to Henry and Alline (Eggleston) Geske. Juanita graduated from Crandon High School as the salutatorian. Juanita married Juel Johnson on June 11, 1949 and resided in rural Colfax her entire life. Juanita trained for nursing during WWII in the "Luther Cadet Corp." program at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire and graduated in 1947. She worked at Luther as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1988. She worked in surgery, 1 North and Emergency departments. She was well respected as a dedicated and very efficient nurse by the doctors and staff at the hospital. After retirement in 1988, she worked as the bookkeeper in the family business. (Johnson Trailer Co.) She was very dedicated and efficient at this as well. Juanita was dedicated to her family and was passionate with her garden. She had the most beautiful gardens, from the time she was a child and all throughout her life. She was also a very avid Packer fan. Juanita is survived by; Her husband, Juel Johnson of Colfax Son, Donald (Debby) Johnson of Colfax Daughters, Barbara Johnson of Menomonie, Jane (Terry) Molde of Menomonie Sisters, Margie DeMars of Conover, WI, Ruth Capuano of Fullerton, CA Grandchildren; Jamie Johnson, Caia Johnson, Luke Johnson, Alyssa Whatley Step-grandchildren; Joby (Stephanie) and Kori Molde Great-grandchildren; Ian Johnson, Luke Johnson Jr., Bailey Johnson 7 Step-great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Alline, brothers Harry Geske and Louis Geske. A special thanks to the Colfax Ambulance Crew, Luther Hospital Emergency, CCU and 4th floor Nurses and Staff. Also Dr. Sengodan, Dr. Wagner, R.N. Angela from 4th floor and Chaplains Aimee, Michael and Brian Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 25, 2010 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Pastor Geoff Scott officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in the village of Colfax. There will be a visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. "Nursing is an art - and if it is to be an art, requires as exclusive a devotion, as hard a preparation as any painter's work, for what is having to do with the dead canvas or cold marble, compared with having to do with the living body- the temple of God's spirit.
