John H. Young Obituary (1936 - 2006)

JOHN H. "JACK" YOUNG John H. "Jack" Young, age 70, of Menomonie, WI died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2007 at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 23, 1936 in Dairyland, WI to Allen and Elisabeth (Handchug) Young. Jack enjoyed farming, and owned and operated Jack's Garage in Dairyland, WI. He later worked for the Douglas County Highway Department. Jack married Janice Trentor on May 18, 1957 in Carlton, MN. After his retirement, Jack and his wife moved to Superior from 1985 to 2003 when they moved to Menomonie and he became caretaker of Town Edge Apartments. Jack loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, cooking and the north woods of Wisconsin. Jack was always there to lend a helping hand to others and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Jack is survived by: His wife, Janice 2 daughters and 1 son, Jackie (Randy) O'Bryan of Menomonie Cathy (Dan) Oksness of Menomonie Roger Loeb of Illinois 15 grandchildren, Bridget (Ian) French of Menomonie, Milo Young of Madison, Tonya Fry of Menomonie, Terra Goetsh of Superior, Brad Benson and Marilla Benson of Menomonie, Kenneth Fry of Menomonie, John Young of Superior, Bill Swanson of Menomonie, Deserie Young of Superior, Larry Young of Menomonie, Zack Morgan and Andy Morgan of Menomonie, Mike Oksness and Matt Oksness of Winona, MN Several great-grandchildren A brother, Darwin (Lois) Young of Danbury Many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Elisabeth Young; A son, Allen Young; a granddaughter, Nikki Roy-Caturia; also 5 brothers and 1 sister. There will be a visitation from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie.
