Inez S. Lemke Obituary (1910 - 2007)

INEZ S. LEMKE Inez S. Lemke, age 97, of Menomonie, WI died Sunday, February 04, 2007 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. The former Inez Bakke was born January 14, 1910 in Menomonie, WI to Amund and Marie (Walseth) Bakke. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. Inez was raised in Menomonie and graduated from Dunn County School of Agriculture and then received a degree in nursing from Luther Hospital School of Nursing in 1933. She did private duty nursing in the Menomonie area for several years. On December 3, 1943, Inez married Harold Lemke in Lewiston, Idaho. They returned to Menomonie and Inez worked as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital in Menomonie until retiring in 1977. Inez was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was especially involved in the quilting and sewing for Lutheran World Relief. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, rosemaling, gardening and Norwegian baking. And most important to her was her family. Inez is survived by: Daughter, Kristine Lemke of Menomonie Son, Roger Lemke of Menomonie Grandson, Andy Lemke of Menomonie Two sisters, Marjorie Carlson of Robbinsdale, MN and Ardis Folstad of Plymouth, MN Nieces and nephews, Patricia (Gerald) Tomshine of Plymouth, MN, Gary (Debbie) Bakke of New Richmond, Betty (John) Zwerg of Williamsburg, VA, Bill (Olga) Bakke of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Peggy (Bob) Nicholson of St. George, Utah And other relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents Amund and Marie Bakke, her husband, Harold Lemke; and two brothers Orville and Gus Bakke. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Roy Harrisville III officiating. Burial will be Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie. Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
