Herbert Link Obituary (1930 - 2004)

HERBERT H. LINK Herbert H. Link, age 73, of Menomonie, WI died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004 at Myrtle Werth Hospital-Mayo Health System in Menomonie. He was born Oct. 25, 1930 in the Town of Spring Brook, Dunn Co., WI to Samuel and Martha (Breitzman) Link. Herbert served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 and was stationed in Korea for one year. On Oct. 20, 1956 he married Marlys Henderson at St. Katherine's Lutheran Church at Beyer Settlement. They resided in Menomonie, and Herb hauled livestock for thirty years. Herb enjoyed his grandchildren and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Herb's final act was the gift of life through tissue and bone donation. Herb is survived by: His wife, Marlys 3 daughters and 1 son Roxanne Gibis of Elk Mound Terry (Donna) Link of Colfax Penny (Paul) O'Connell of Clear Lake Kathy (Larry) Link-Grieb of Boyceville 9 grandchildren, Jesse and Christie Gibis; Joy, Jon and Joe Link; Matthew and Eric O'Connell; Dustin and Cody Link 2 great-grandchildren, Alexis Gibis and Devyn Lee 2 brothers both of Billings, MT: Elmer (Marchia) Link and Francis (Ann) Link He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Samuel, Sherman, Richard and Melvin; and 4 sisters, Rachel, Hazel, Esther and Linda. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, Aug. 30, 2004 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie. Burial will be at 3:00 PM on Monday at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI with military honors. Family and friends may call at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. The family suggests memorials to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
