Henry Field Grote Obituary (2006 - 2007)

Grote, Henry Field Age 66, of Menomonie, WI, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, died November 24th, 2007 after suffering a stroke on November 21st. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry W. and Patricia Grote. Survived by his wife Geraldine; sons Caleb Kenneth of Menomonie, Vogel (Shari) of New Prague, MN, Lev (Kanako) of New York City, and Sasha (Colleen) of Seattle, WA; brothers Daniel (Jean) of Eden Prairie, MN, and Philip (Martha) of Chaska, MN; sister Virginia Buchanan of New Bern, NC; 4 grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Henry was the Hazardous Substance Specialist for the University of Wisconsin Stout, River Falls, and Eau Claire campuses until his retirement in February 2006. He was also a Certified Soil Tester and Engineering Systems Designer, and operated his own business throughout the area for many years. He was an active member of Lions Club of Knapp, WI. He was an avid reader, vegetable gardener, hunter, and fisherman, and he enjoyed a good political discussion. He especially loved fishing trips with family and friends to Lake of the Woods in Ontario. Henry will be very sadly missed by all. Visitation will be Sunday, December 2nd, from noon until 2:00 P.M., followed by the service at 2:00 P.M, all at Olson Funeral Home, 615 Wilson Ave., Menomonie. (715) 235-2154.
