Freda K. Shaw Obituary (1909 - 2009)

FREDA K. SHAW Freda K. Shaw, age 100, of Menomonie, WI died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood, WI. The former Freda Jevne was born March 3, 1909 in Meridean, WI to Gilbert and Bessie (Erickson) Jevne. She was baptized and confirmed at the church in Rock Creek. She was raised in Meridean and later moved to Durand and then Menomonie with her husband Robert Shaw. Freda and Robert were married on April 3, 1931, and were married for 53 years. They spent their early years farming in Durand, Knapp and Meridean. Freda was a homemaker and famous for her chocolate cake recipe. She also loved her flowers which her dear friend Betty Graff enjoyed helping her with. In later years, she was much loved by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed tremendously by her family and friends. Freda is survived by: Her daughter Delores Williams Her brothers, Leonard (Sarah) Jevne, Broyon (Muriel) Jevne and George Jevne Her sister Irene Shager and sister-in-law Valerie Jevne Eleven grandchildren, Ron (Pat) Williams, Richard (Janice) Williams, Gary (Debbie) Williams,Barb (Tim) Stephens, Bonnie (Dave) Dams, Beverly (Manny) Burmudez, Bernadine (Thomas) Best, Laurane (Mike) Kuhlman, Christine (David) Alm, Julie (Doug) Hamilton, Mary Nell (Mathew) Martinson 27 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Shaw, infant daughter Barbara Shaw, her parents Gilbert and Bessie Jevne, her brothers, Franz (Angeline) Jevne, Kenneth (Aggie) Jevne, Orville Jevne, Gerald Jevne and Orville (Phylis) Jevne, her sister Volberg (Bud) Brandrup, sister-in-law Ann Jevne, sons-in-law, Ben Blagen and Keith Williams and great-grandson Michael Williams. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 8, 2009 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI, with Pastor Steve Schmeling officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek (Fossum) Cemetery in the Town of Rock Creek, Dunn Co., WI. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
