Fern Knopps Obituary (1924 - 2006) - Menomonie, Wisconsin

FERN L. KNOPPS Fern L. Knopps, age 81, of Menomonie, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. Fern LuVerne Behling was born August 30, 1924 to George C. and Minna (Metzger) Behling in the town of Sherman, Dunn County, WI. Fern graduated from Boyceville High School in 1942. She worked at First National Bank in Menomonie for 23 years. Later she worked in St. Paul, MN at Fairway Foods for five years and then at St. Anthony Park State Bank for 10 years. Following her retirement in 1986, she moved back to Menomonie. Fern was a long time member of Peace Lutheran Church. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her "treasure of gold". In her spare time, she loved to play cards, dance, and bake for family and friends. For the past nine years, Fern has been a resident of Dunn Co. Health Care Center. The family would like to thank everyone at DCHCC for the exceptional care she received while there. Fern is survived by: A daughter, Donna (Bruce) Dischinger of Roseville, MN Three granddaughters Kristi (Dave) Funni of Island Lake, IL Melissa (Tom) Bozzay of Naperville, IL Rachel Dischinger of St. Paul, MN 4 great-grandchildren Shealeigh, Breanna, and Kiera Funni, Clara Bozzay A brother, Lloyd (Vi) Behling of Menomonie Many nieces and nephews And other relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Marvin Behling; four sisters, Hazel Hagen, Clara Schuttz, Irma Tietz, and Ruth Behling (in infancy). Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie with Reverend David Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery, Twp. Sherman, Dunn Co., WI. Family and friends are welcome one hour prior to the service at the church. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is handling the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund or Sunday School Bible Distribution or the Dunn County Health Care Center, Sugar Bowl fund.
