Esther Grace Story Obituary (1944 - 2015)

Esther G. Story, age 70 of Menomonie, WI passed away January 15, 2015 after a nine year battle with cancer. Esther Grace Thornblad was born August 22, 1944, in Carlton County, Minnesota and lived there until she went to Hutchinson, MN to finish high school. In 1967 she met Raymond Story, the man she later married on August 4, 1968. They were married for 46 wonderful years and had two daughters during that time. Her church home was the Menomonie Seventh Day Adventist church for many years; she was very active in tending the church’s booth at the county fair, as well as crocheting afghans and other items for those in need. She was always ready and willing to help wherever she could. It brought her a lot of joy to be able to help others. Those who knew her will surely remember her never ending smile and positive outlook on life. Even on her deathbed she was more concerned about others than she was herself. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Story; daughters Susan Anderson of Niles, MI and Jo Story of Viroqua, WI. Grandchildren include: Keith and Angela Anderson of Niles, MI; Hannah, Kai, and Andrew Bechtel (Story) of Westby, WI. Surviving brothers and sisters: Clarence Thornblad; Paul Thornblad; Richard (Mary) Breitkreutz; Steven Breitkreutz; Evelyn Turner; and Pamela Welsh. Also included for mention: her brother-in-law Wallace Goldsmith, and sister-in-Law, Nona Thornblad. Services will be held later this spring, at the Menomonie SDA church.
