Delbert B. Nygaard Obituary (1922 - 2005)

DELBERT B. NYGAARD Delbert B. Nygaard, age 83, of Wheeler, WI died Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. He was born January 17, 1922 in the Township of Otter Creek, Dunn Co., WI to Bert and Mahala (Schigley) Nygaard. Delbert attended Little Otter grade school and then Colfax High School. Delbert married Wilma Andrews on July 29, 1944 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie. After their marriage, he farmed for a short time and then worked as mechanic and school bus driver for many years. He was also janitor at Wheeler Grade school and owned and operated a service station in Wheeler. Delbert retired as Transportation Director at Boyceville School. Delbert was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Wheeler, and was caretaker of Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery for ten years. He was also a member of the Wheeler Snow Drifters snowmobile club. He enjoyed working on bicycles and lawn mowers and going for scenic drives in the country. Delbert's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Delbert is survived by: His wife, Wilma of Wheeler A daughter, Tammy (Alan) Koehler of Ridgeland 3 grandchildren Jeremy Flug of Ridgeland Jessica (Joe) Gale of Cameron Justin Flug (girlfriend, Nikki Raven) of Cameron A great-granddaughter, Kiarrah Flug 2 sisters Betty (Wally) Stoll of LaCrosse Marlys (Les) Snyder of Wheeler Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Bernard, Roger and Rueben. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Wheeler, WI with Rev. Dale Horner officiating. Burial will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in the Twp. of Hay River, Dunn Co., WI. Family and friends are welcome at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
