Curtis Sylte Obituary (1929 - 2004)

CURTIS A. SYLTE Curtis A. Sylte, age 75, of Menomonie, WI died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at Myrtle Werth Hospital-Mayo Health System in Menomonie. He was born March 27, 1929 in Sand Creek, WI to Edward and Laura (Olsen) Sylte. Curtis moved with his family to the Colfax area where he graduated from Colfax High School in 1947. He married Marian Tande on Jan. 25, 1952 in Stillwater, MN. Curtis worked at the creameries in Sand Creek and Colfax before going to work at Sanna Dairies in Menomonie. He worked at Sanna's for 42 years retiring in 1991. Curtis was an avid reader and loved to play his guitar and taught his son Lonny how to play. He was a fan of Menomonie High School sports and a Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan. He also loved to fish and camp at Big Swedes on Lake Holcombe. Curtis was a kind, gentle, humorous man, with a "real" funny, dry, sense of humor. Curtis' final act was the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Curtis is survived by: His wife, Marian Sylte of Menomonie Three sons, Larry (Carol) Sylte of Menomonie Lonny (Maryann) Sylte of Knapp Lynn (Erin) Sylte of Littleton, CO 5 grandchildren, Stephen, Stephanie, Holly, Allison, Nicole 2 step-grandchildren, Susie and Amanda Many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends And special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Jeannine Spielman of River Falls He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edgar and Wilbur; three sisters, Geneva Nabbefeld, Ruth Hoyland and "Dolly" Holte. A Memorial service will be at 1:00 PM Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Ron Burke officiating. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
