Charlotte Scott Obituary (1923 - 2010)

Charlotte S. Scott Charlotte S. Scott, age 87, of Colfax, Wisconsin died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at home with family and hospice care. Charlotte was born on April 22, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Louis C. Sideris and Frances (Hoppenrath) Sideris. Charlotte and her sister, Shirley, were identical twins. Charlotte was a graduate of Derham Hall high school and the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. After graduation in 1945 Charlotte and Shirley enlisted together in the U.S. Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). They served in military hospitals on the East Coast. On April 29, 1950, Charlotte married Clayton Scott at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Minneapolis, beginning 56 years of marriage. They remained life-long members of St. Paul's, serving as teachers and leaders in the congregation. In 1953, they built a home in the Morningside area of Edina where they lived for 33 years. In retirement, they also lived in Hopkins, Minnesota and Colfax, Wisconsin. Charlotte was very active in a variety of civic groups. In recent years she especially enjoyed weekly Bingo outings at the Menomonie Leisure Center. Charlotte is survived by: A step-sister, Joan Melander, Brooklyn Center, MN Her daughter, Elizabeth Scott of Colfax, WI Her son, Geoffrey (Kathy) Scott of Wheeler, WI Four grandchildren: Emily (Joel) Hansen, Menomonie, WI; Julia (Jon) Strand, Eau Claire, WI; William Scott, Menomonie, WI; and Katherine Scott, Minneapolis, MN. Two great-grandchildren: Megan Hansen and Lydia Strand She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Shirley Shore; and her husband, Clayton Scott. Charlotte was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and friend. Charlotte's family extends special thanks to the staffs of the American Lutheran Home (Menomonie) and Northwest Home Care (hospice services) for their professional and compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 25, 2010 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Pastor David Whelan officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
