Betty J. Trainor Obituary (1929 - 2010)

BETTY J. TRAINOR Betty J. Trainor, age 81, of Menomonie, WI died, Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie. She was born January 9, 1929 in Menomonie to Fred & Olga (Johnson) Draeger. She was a graduate of Menomonie High School and worked as a telephone operator for a short time and was a career Avon Lady. Betty met John Trainor and they were married on Sept. 24, 1948 at the Peace Lutheran Parsonage in Menomonie, by Pastor Werth. They farmed their whole life in Lucas Township. She and John were partners in farming where they milked up to 47 head of cows and raised 6 children which she motivated with her enthusiasm. Betty was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, served many terms on the Menomonie School Board and was also treasurer for the Town of Lucas. She loved deer hunting and fishing, having fished with her father from a young age at Lambs Creek. The fishing trips she and John took to Canada and Alaska were highlights in her life, as long as she caught one more fish than John, she was happy. She also was a tremendous baker and cook. Betty had a large garden and would "can" the harvest out of it as well as the black berries she enjoyed picking. She enjoyed playing cards over the years and also loved her spare time "casino runs" for relaxation. Betty is survived by her husband, John of Menomonie; 6 children, Steve (Christine) of Gordon, Jerry (Rhonda) of Menomonie, Ron (Yvonne) of Menomonie, Jeff (Julie) of Menomonie, Lori (Dave) Howe of Menomonie and Linda (Mike) Cornelison of Chanhassen, MN; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren & 1 on the way (At last report); 1 sister, Fran Deila of S. St. Paul, MN/ Bonita Springs, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred & Olga Draeger; 1grandson, Christopher Trainor; 1 sister, Lillian Buckley; and 1 brother, Earl Draeger. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 am, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Heather Kistner officiating. Friends may call Friday evening from 4-7 pm at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
