Audrey M. Fisher Obituary (1924 - 2010)

Audrey M. Fisher, age 85, of Menomonie, WI passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation in Colfax, WI. The former Audrey Madelene McMartin was born Sept. 23, 1924 in Toledo, Iowa to Harry and Mabelle (Jones) McMartin. At four month she moved with her parents to Menomonie. She lived her entire life in and around Menomonie. Audrey graduated from Menomonie High School in 1942 and attended Dunn County Normal and Eau Claire State College. She taught at the Rusk School. Audrey married William Fisher June 2, 1944 at Calvary Lutheran Church in the Town of Dunn. They were married 55 years. To this union four children were born, Marcia (Don) Henderson of Colfax, Barbara (Jim) Beaty of Bismarck, ND, Roger (Linda) Fisher of Santa Maria, CA, Sharon Secraw (Jim Suckow) of Eau Claire. She has been a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie since 1944. Audrey worked twenty years testing milk at D.H.I.A. in Menomonie. She loved camping, traveling, crocheting, reading, playing cards, watching the Packers, and spending time with her family and friends. Audrey is survived by her four children, ten grandchildren, Jenni (Donnie)Sokup of Colfax, Jason (Shannon) Malone of Spencer, WI, Jeff Beaty of Bismarck, ND, Jake (Brie) Beaty of Myrtle Beach, SC, Nikki (Frank) Brunner and Megan Fisher of DePere, WI, Greg Fisher of Santa Maria, CA, Dasan Cook of Oshkosh, WI, Dylan Cook of Eau Claire, Serena Secraw of Eau Claire; six great-grandchildren, Michael and Katlyn Sokup, Avrie and Claire Malone, Nolan and Laura Brunner and Baby Beaty due in May; seven step-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren; her brother Willard McMartin of Menomonie; sister-in-law Aline (Ted) Jurecki of Chetek; two special nieces, Charlotte (Jim) Matouske and Peggy Zimmerman; her dear special friend Willard Price; as well as many nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, brother Lloyd McMartin, son-in-law Michael Malone and sister-in-law Eileen McMartin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor David Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran/Halvorson Cemetery in Menomonie. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hourprior to the service on Friday.
