Alflorence Al Cheatham, PhD. Obituary (1927 - 2011)

Alflorence (Al) Cheatham, age 83 was born April 14, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Red Cedar Medical Center, Menomonie, WI. He proudly served his country in the Marines, MPC, Camp Leyeine, NC. He held the rank of Private First Class, USMCR and was honorably discharged as a disabled World War II veteran. He retired from Stout University after 10 years as a Professor in the Education Department. He is survived by his loving wife Rita and two stepsons, Mike Jaenke and Jason Peterson, all of Menomonie; two daughters, April English of Boston, MA and Lesley Pruett of CA; Mother-in-Law Marion Jaenke of Tucson, AZ, Brother-In-Law Lonnie (Jeanie) Jaenke of Elk Mound; Sisters-in-Law, Teresa (Wayne) Schilling of Glenwood City and Patty (Lee) Berg of Tucson, AZ; Also survived by several nieces and nephews, and one granddaughter. Al was loved by many for the special friendships he built and his willingness to always help others. All of our lives were touched and enriched by knowing him. The family would like to give a special thank- you to Dr. Steven Brown, and the nurses and aids at the Red Cedar Medical Center , Menonomie, WI for making Al’s final days as peaceful and comfortable as possible. A Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 from 5-7 P.M. at Olson Funeral Home of Menomonie. Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Mpls/St. Paul, MN.
