Albert Menster Obituary (1910 - 2008)

ALBERT A. MENSTER Albert A. Menster, age 97, of Menomonie, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. Albert August Menster was born on November 30, 1910 in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn County, Wisconsin to August and Lena (Tischauser) Menster. Albert married Agnes Markham on September 14, 1937 in Crown Point, Indiana. Albert and Agnes were members of the United Methodist Church in Menomonie for many years. Albert owned and operated Menster's Blacksmith and Welding Shop from 1937 to 1990, retiring at the age of 80. Albert was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1584 for over 50 years, and held various offices. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling, spending time at his cottage and winters in Arizona. He learned to bowl and play pool at the age of 70, and he loved playing cards. Albert is survived by: His loving wife of 70 years, Agnes of Menomonie Two daughters, Marlys Tietz (Gerald) of New Brighton, MN Diana Menster-Sullivan (Michael) of Brooklyn Park, MN Five grandchildren, Nicholas Tietz (Jinessa), Matthew Tietz, and Brett, Justin and Kristin Sullivan Three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Sophia, and Samara Tietz He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters. The family would like to thank the staff at the American Lutheran Home for their loving care. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie. Family and friends are welcome from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Wednesday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, where there will be a Loyal Order of the Moose service at 7:00 PM. There will also be an hour visitation prior to the service Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran/Halvorson Cemetery in Menomonie.
